New virus threa
Published on 28/10/2008
A word of warning to be alert for a new ploy by hackers to access your computers.
Over the past week I have received a series of e-mails whose subject line contained a seemingly innocuous title such as the title of our company followed by an anonymous phrase such as "report" or "stats" or "statistics" or "review". All had carried attachments, including PDF files, which my ISP warned had contained Trojans and which had been removed.
It looks as if the hackers are being becoming more sophisticated and are targetting companies with bogus subject lines so be wary. Apart from making sure AV software is up to date and properly configured to include the scanning of PDF files, I'd recommend people read subject lines and addresses carefully before opening mail.
